This guide outlines the core curriculum and articulation plans that were developed by a home economics task force for the purpose of improving and standardizing home economics education programs at community colleges throughout California. The first five chapters deal with the following subject areas addressed in home economics education: child development, family studies, and gerontology; fashion; interiors (environment, design, and merchandising); life management; and nutrition and food. Each of these chapters includes a statement of purpose; a discussion of career opportunities; a list of programs and courses comprising the curriculum; course descriptions and quality indicators; suggested activities; evaluation, assessment, and accountability criteria, a list of available resources, and information concerning recommendations and dissemination. Chapters on articulation and processes for implementing recommendations are also included. Appendixes to the guide include lists of project staff and task force members and a glossary. (MN)
