Surviving Hurricane Ivan at Pensacola Junior College Pensacola, Florida
Davis, Sandra
Community & Junior College Libraries, v13 n4 p13-16 2005
Hurricane Ivan struck the Gulf Coast of Florida on September 16, 2004, destroying waterfront homes, and damaging properties for miles. Pensacola Junior College (PJC), a two-year college with three campuses and a student population of approximately 26,000, was hit hard. In the Pensacola Campus Learning Resources Center (LRC), water and mold ruined about 3,500 volumes, which were dumped into black plastic bags and trashed. This article describes how Pensacola Campus LRC has returned its operations after the destruction brought about by Hurricane Ivan.
