Developing Staff IT Skills in the Arts.
Gruba, Paul
This paper reflects on changes sought in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Melbourne (Australia) as a way to encourage greater involvement with online technologies. Specifically, the paper looks at staff development as a central component to changes, maps out where the faculty has gone, and takes a brief look at where it is headed. An integrated framework for staff development is presented that includes a united approach, staff development teams, departmental point of contact, focused workshops, ongoing seminars, and the Arts IT&MM (Information Technologies & Multimedia) Fair. Persistent problems and challenges are summarized, including lapses in communication between providers, scheduling of workshops, incentives, and staying on track and motivated.
