This curriculum guide is intended for vocational agriculture teachers who deliver agricultural business and management programs at the secondary or postsecondary level. It is based on the Arizona validated occupational competencies and tasks for management and supervisory positions in agricultural business. The competency/skill and task list appears first. Each page of the instructor's guide which follows provides information related to a specified task within the competency. The information includes competency/skill; task; performance objective; student learning experiences; suggested instructional techniques; instructional equipment, materials, and supplies; and resources. The 19 competencies/skills relate to management and recordkeeping; marketing and purchasing; breeding and care of newborn animals; livestock health (disease and parasite control); livestock feed; facilities and equipment construction and maintenance; personal and human relations skills; safety practices; livestock showing; seed selection; planting; tillage equipment selection, maintenance, and operation; irrigation system design, construction, and operation; insect control program management; plant disease control program management; weed control program management; fertilizers; harvesting; and engine, implement, and equipment operation and maintenance.
