The problems involved when radiation-producing devices of our contemporary technology are used in the teaching of science at the high school and undergraduate college level are discussed. Information is provided on the hazards involved in the use of radiation-producing equipment or radioactive materials in science demonstrations and experiments and on the means of protection available to offset these hazards. Specific sections included discuss the following topics--(1) biological considerations, (2) typical radiation sources used in schools, (3) basic principles or radiation protection, and (4) the radiation protection program.
