To determine whether or not blacks and whites are increasingly divergent in their political orientations, public opinion data from 13 separate national surveys conducted in 1961, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971 (4 studies) and 1972 (2 studies) by the Opinion Research Corporation (ORC) of Princeton, New Jersey, were examined.
