Project Help. An Elementary Curriculum Guide Designed to Help Students Help Themselves.

This two-part curriculum is designed to teach elementary students basic life skills that will enable them to assume greater responsibility for themselves. Part 1, the primary curriculum, is designed for grades 3 and 4. Five units of instruction are included in the primary curriculum: home management, foods, personal cleanliness, sewing, and woodworking (primary). Part 2, the intermediate curriculum, is designed for grades 5 and 6. The five units of instruction in the intermediate curriculum are consumer education, money management, foods and nutrition, sewing and clothing, personal hygiene and good grooming, and woodworking (intermediate). Each unit begins with a short introduction and continues with student objectives and teaching activities. Each activity contains references to resource sheets which are appended. Other appended material includes a scope and sequence chart, pre- and posttests for the intermediate curriculum units, and a bibliography. (LRA)
