History through Art and Architecture: Ancient Greek Architecture [and] Ancient Greek Sculpture. Teacher's Manual.
Campbell, Ann
This document consists of two teaching manuals designed to accompany a commercially-available "multicultural, interdisciplinary video program," consisting of four still videotape programs (72 minutes, 226 frames), one teaching poster, and these two manuals. "Teacher's Manual: Ancient Greek Architecture" covers: "Ancient Greek Architecture 1," which looks at early column styles, structures of the Acropolis, and architectural features of the Parthenon; and "Ancient Greek Architecture 2," which presents frieze and relief sculpture, the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheum, and mature column styles. "Teacher's Manual: Ancient Greek Sculpture" presents "Painting and Sculpture 1," which examines archaic exemplars from Crete and Greece, including Kouros, Kore, Geometric and Black Figure Style vases, and Severe Style figures; and "Painting and Sculpture 2," which examines exemplars of Classical and Hellenistic style. The teaching manuals include scripts of the filmstrips, suggested student activities, discussion guides, reproducible student worksheets, quizzes with answer guides, glossaries, and bibliographies.
