The entries in this journal represent the second annual publication of selected material dealing with the topic of black theatre. Articles describe an evening with the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop in Harlem, relate an interview with Vinie Burrows, explore the thinking of black scholars and artists on the elements of the African-American theatre form, and outline the advantages of providing a board of directors to guide black theatre. The journal also includes a one-act play by Charles Michael Moore, "One Nickel on This Wine," based on a young man's encounter with street knowledge, and "Putting Black Theatre in the Black," a speech delivered at the Second Annual Midwest Black Theatre Alliance Conference by Dr. Carlton Molette that discusses the financial aspects of the black theatre.
