Associations among Asian Americans' Enculturation, Emotional Experiences, and Depressive Symptoms
Wong, Y. Joel; Tran, Kimberly K.; Lai, Andre
Journal of Multicultural Counseling and Development, v37 n2 p105 Apr 2009
Using a computer-based text analysis of 218 Asian Americans' writing samples, the authors found that enculturation as well as use of negative emotion and positive emotion words were associated with depressive symptoms. Enculturation was also found to moderate the relation between use of negative emotion words and cognitive--affective depressive symptoms. (Contains 1 figure and 2 tables.)
