This study explored the availability of energy conservation programs at community colleges; the apparent need for such programs or courses by industry, business, and government; and the types of programs, if any, which should be offered at the vocational/technical level. Information was sought from 52 current two-year programs, the fifty state Departments of Public Instruction, several federal agencies, 200 industries nationwide, and 274 individuals. Ideas and programs were found to be concentrated in four areas of energy conservation instruction: (l) technician programs; (2) courses; (3) seminars and workshops; and (4) the incorporation of energy conservation into existing programs. Of these four, only the technician program did not appear feasible since there are no apparent job opportunities at the technician level. The document details significant responses from individuals, describes programs now in effect in specific colleges, and summarizes responses from state departments and oil and utility companies. Question item statistics are presented for the industrial survey, showing the current and planned industrial conservation programs.
