This article describes the incidence, symptoms, management, and other aspects of myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) in relation to children in school. The disease is probably caused by an enterovirus and is characterized by extreme fatigue, muscle pain, an inability to concentrate, impaired speech, and sensory disturbances. Suggestions for managing pupils with ME are offered. (DB)
