Musical Composition and Creativity in an Advanced Software Environment
Reynolds, Nicholas
Australian Educational Computing, v17 n2 p21-25 Nov 2002
This paper serves as a brief description of research into the use of professional level music software as a learning tool for creativity and composition by primary school children. The research formed the basis of a Master of Information Technology in Education degree at the University of Melbourne. The paper examines the physical environment, the thinking behind the research, and the connections between art and computing. Finally, the article presents a portrait of one of the participants, which includes an analysis of one of her compositions. (Contains 4 figures.)
