Raising Quality through Training: National Training Survey Results and Recommendations
Smith, Linda K.
Exchange: The Early Childhood Leaders' Magazine Since 1978, n176 p18-20 Jul-Aug 2007
Child Care Resource and Referral agencies (CCR&Rs) are one of the major vehicles in the United States for providing training to child care providers. The quality of care children receive in child care settings is due, in large part, to the effectiveness of the training child care providers receive from CCR&Rs and other community organizations. In 2006, the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) conducted a survey to learn more about the training that its 800 State Network and local CC&R members were conducting. Based on this survey, whose key results are presented here, NACCRRA proposes a 12-point plan to create an improved training system. NACCRRA believes that, with the implementation of the elements of this plan, CCR&Rs can provide the foundation for a nation-wide community-based system of training and technical assistance that will link in meaningful ways to the formal education system (community colleges and four-year colleges).
