Developed by teachers and representatives of the health service industries, this curriculum guide outlines the basic skills and knowledge necessary for entry-level competencies in the health field or for entrance into a post-high school or university programs. Section 1, Occupational and Instructional Data, provides manpower data and an analysis of tasks and duties for: (1) dental assistant, (2) dental hygienist, (3) dental laboratory technician, (4) medical assistant, (5) inhalation therapist, (6) medical-laboratory assistant, (7) nurses aide, (8) nurses, general duty, (9) nurses, licensed practical, and (10) occupational therapy aide. Section 2, Cluster Curriculum, includes a suggested secondary curriculum pattern for Grades 9-12 and descriptions of suggested specialty courses for Grades 11 and 12. Section 3, Occupational Specialty Courses, provides objectives, content, learning activities, and evaluation for: (1) Human Body Structure and Function, (2) Microbes and Disease, (3) Health Team Relations, (4) Patient Relations, and (5) Health Care Skills I and II. Evaluative criteria, equipment and supply costs, sources for instructional materials, instructor qualifications, and employment opportunities are appended. (SB)
