Antologia Del Saber Popular: A Selection from Various Genres of Mexican Folklore Across Borders. Monograph No. 2.
Robe, Stanley L., Ed.
A variety of oral folk material from Mexican sources is presented in this anthology. The 114 selections are derived from the various genres available and from traditional as well as newer formations. The selections include folktales, jests and anecdotes, legends and beliefs, beliefs about popular medicine, prayers, verses, children's games and lullabies, riddles, and proverbs. A section of this monograph presents a Mexican's view of his society's traditional practices and rites at decisive points in life. A folk drama performed traditionally during the Christmas season is also included. All the selections are in Spanish. The introduction to the monograph is in English. (NQ)
