These two comic books are part of the "Very Special Family" series, created by and for Hispanic parents of children with special needs. The materials are designed to help parents deal with the emotional difficulties of raising a child with disabilities. The booklets are printed in both English and Spanish. In Part 1, "Mario and Clara Hernandez," a devoted young migrant couple gives birth to their anxiously awaited baby, only to encounter the challenges and concerns of parenting an infant with disabilities. On a home visit, a family advocate provides assurances and hope. In Part 2, "Clara Finds a Friend," the family advocate, herself a parent, helps Clara and Mario deal with their grief and guilt so they can look with hope to their child's future. (TES)
