Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing: Course Outline.
Cardinal, Judith L.
A guide to Nursing 5, a course on psychiatric-mental health nursing offered at East Los Angeles College is presented. The guide first details classroom and clinical course requirements and then identifies long-range and end-of-course objectives. A list of required texts and manuals is followed by an outline of the objectives for each of four sequential course units: (1) introduction to psychiatric-mental health nursing, (2) treatment modalities, (3) the nursing process applied to persons with mild-moderate psycho-social problems, and (4) the nursing process applied to persons with severe psycho-social problems. Activities and sample test items are provided for each of the unit objectives. The guide concludes with a course evaluation form to be filled out by the student at the end of the semester. (JP)
