The Nebraska Occupational Information books (volumes I and II) contain information about 386 different occupations in the state and answer questions about specific occupations in detail. The descriptions are arranged according to a U.S. Department of Labor classification system, with occupational titles clustered in general groups of selected categories from the Standard Occupational Classification manual. The information provided about each occupation is divided into the following four sections: (1) description of the occupation, including Holland code, specialties, code number from the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, related occupations, work activities, work setting, Nebraska employment, wages, and growth expected; (2) high school and postsecondary preparation and skills; (3) bibliography; and (4) list of Nebraska postsecondary schools that offer education/training in the field. The following occupational categories are included in Volume II: marketing and sales supervisors; insurance, securities, real estate, and business service sales occupations; commodities sales occupations; retail sales occupations; sales related occupations; administrative support and clerical occupations; private household occupations; protective service occupations; service occupations; farm operators and managers; agricultural related occupations; forestry occupations; mechanics and repairers; construction trades; extractive occupations; precision production occupations; plant and system operators; production supervisors; machine setup operators; machine operators and tenders; fabricators, assemblers, and hand working occupations; production inspectors, testers, samplers, and weighers; transportation and material moving supervisors; transportation occupations; material moving occupations; helpers; handlers, equipment cleaners, and laborers; and military occupations.
