Bryan's First 2 Years: Mom, a Group Foster Care Home, and an IFSP
Rothenberg, Andrea
Zero to Three (J), v25 n4 p22-29 Mar 2005
This case study illustrates the integration of infant mental health and early intervention approaches for a 17-year-old teen mother and her infant son living in group foster care. Mother and son were involved with the foster care system, prenatal and delivery services, infant mental health practice, child care, and early intervention. Like many teens, this mother had unrealistic expectations for her son and believed that responding to his distress would make him a "mama's boy." The goal of strengthening the infant-parent relationship became part of the child's Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) when developmental delays were discovered.
