Bakken, Jeffrey P., Ed.; Obiakor, Festus E., Ed.; Rotatori, Anthony F., Ed.
Advances in Special Education (MS)
Volumes 22 and 23 of the "Advances in Special Education" address the current top perspectives and issues in the field of emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) by providing chapters written by active researchers and scholarly university professors who specialize in this area. Volume 22 first delineates legal issues, themes, and dimensions related to the historical development of the EBD field. Then this volume addresses best practices for the assessment and placement of students with EBD. Volume 23 begins with a strong ideological rationale and convincing research arguments for the inclusion of students with EBD in general education classes. This chapter is supported by an examination of academic instruction parameters that are currently being practiced in the EBD field to support inclusion practices. Following a preface by Jeffrey P. Bakken, Festus E. Obiakor, and Anthony F. Rotatori, chapters presented in this volume include: (1) Inclusion and Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (Richard Simpson and Nancy A. Mundschenk); (2) Academic Instruction and Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (Jessica L. Hagaman); (3) Social Skills Training and Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (Kathryn J.
