This report summarizes the available information on year-round schools. The document narrates a brief history of the year-round school, describes several variant related program types, and presents some of the advantages and disadvantages of such programs. One section of the report offers pro and con views on the subject of the extended school year concept as expressed by teachers, administrators, students, businessmen, and the general public. Those States currently involved in year-round school programs or those having flexible laws that provide the potential for acceptance of such programs are listed. A list is also provided of those States or school districts that initiated feasibility studies predecent to taking action on initiating year-round schools during the period 1966-70.
