Semaan, Leslie
China has the longest continuous civilization in the world--about 4000 years. Another reason to study China is its sheer size in both area and population. This text gives students the opportunity to explore those aspects of Chinese life which have changed in recent years. The extensive history and religion sections allow these changes to be seen in the light of China's ancient past. The text is divided into units according to subject areas such as the land, cities, and history. A suggested activities section consists of a series of questions, discussions topics, activities, quizzes, and research projects. These correspond directly to the textual material. The slide-tape script can be used on its own to add to the teacher's knowledge of the country or it can be used in conjunction with the slide-tape, which is sold separately. Also included are a glossary, and suggested reading list. (BZ)
