This handbook on parent involvement, designed to be used with preschool programs, was developed by the Jefferson County Public Schools in Lakewood, Colorado. Included are: (1) a general statement about parent involvement in an early childhood program, (2) a description of the Jefferson County Early Childhood Program, (3) a description of the differentiated staffing pattern used in the program, (4) a description of parent involvement in the program, specifically parent volunteers, parent discussion groups, parent meetings, home visits, and parent advisory boards, and (5) a discussion of the use of newsletters and printed materials. Also included are lists of suggested materials for early childhood center libraries and for use by staff members. (JMB)
