This instructor's manual consists of materials for use in introducing middle and junior high school students to job requirements and career opportunities in the areas of agribusiness and natural resource exploration. Included in the first part of the manual are a program master sequence, a listing of various agricultural and mining occupations organized according to job family, and an overview of the competency-based vocational education (CBVE) instructional system for the practical arts. The major part of the publication comprises instructor's guide sheets and student task assignment sheets. Provided on each of the guide sheets are a task title, an objective, a discussion of attitudes and values to be developed through the task, an instructor's final checklist, one or more check-out activities, notes and suggestions for the teacher, a listing of references and special tools and equipment, and information to be presented to students. One or more student task assignment sheets are included for each of the following job families: farm production, nursery production, livestock production, gardening and groundskeeping, mechanics, professional agricultural occupations, forestry, mining, and petroleum. Each of these task sheets contains some or all of the following: a task title, an introduction, objectives, one or more learning activities, one or more check-out activities, and a copy of the instructor's final checklist. The appendixes include a vocabulary listing, suggested references appropriate for career exploration, and guidelines for addressing students with special needs. (MN)
