Disc Golf: Teaching a Lifetime Activity
Eastham, Susan L.
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v28 n6 p3-8 2015
Disc golf is a lifetime activity that can be enjoyed by students of varying skill levels and abilities. Disc golf follows the principles of ball golf but is generally easier for students to play and enjoy success. The object of disc golf is similar to ball golf and involves throwing a disc from the teeing area to the target in as few throws as possible. This article describes the equipment, course, basic rules, etiquette and skills of disc golf. The purpose of the article is to provide physical education teachers with the knowledge necessary to be able to teach a disc golf unit to their students. Practical modifications are also suggested, making it easy for physical educators to incorporate disc golf into their curriculum.
