Deliberation, Tradition, and the Problem of Incommensurability: Philosophical Reflections on Curriculum Decision Making.
Cohen, Jonathan
Educational Theory, v49 n1 p71-89 Win 1999
Discusses curriculum decision making, drawing on Joseph Schwab's framework of deliberation and explaining three foundations upon which the deliberative orientation to the justification of curriculum decisions is predicated. The paper examines what might happen to Schwab's framework of deliberation if it were exposed to various questions raised by further postpositivist thinking on the problems of incommensurability and traditions of inquiry.
