Writing Zones 12.5: Regarding the High School Writing Center as a Gateway to College
Ashley, H. M.; Shafer, Lisa Kay
Clearing House: A Journal of Educational Strategies, Issues and Ideas, v80 n2 p83-85 Nov-Dec 2006
In this article, the authors describe the development of a pilot project called Writing Zones 12.5. Writing Zones 12.5 was created to help students find strategies for solving writing problems and help them become better writers at every stage of the writing process. The project touches on five of the nine principles that Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis (CHEPA) emphasizes--academic preparation, college counseling, engaging with local identities and cultures, peer group influences, and mentorship.
