The purpose of this research was to investigate the attitudes of early childhood teachers towards computers and Information Technology (IT). The study examined whether or not attitudes are differentiated by a series of factors, such as: years of previous service, the use of a computer at home (with Internet access), inservice training, and experience of teachers with computers, as well as their views about the introduction of computers into early childhood education. The subjects of the survey were 107 inservice female early childhood teachers, taking part in a two-year programme of inservice training at the Department of Early Childhood Education of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. The results show that early childhood educators have limited access and positive but temperate attitudes to the world of computers. Teachers' attitudes appear to be influenced significantly by computer use at home, experience with computers and inservice training. (Contains 13 tables.)
