Competencies for this module (1) determine when to seek professional advice from an attorney or insurance agent and (2) identify insurance coverage essential to the operation of a small business. Provided are information sections (points to consider in developing an insurance plan and when to consult an attorney); one learning activity (a checklist to determine the types of business insurance needed); three pamphlets from the Small Business Administration ("Legal Services for Small Retail and Service Firms,""Insurance Checklist for Small Businesses," and "Business Life Insurance"); and a script from a cassette tape designed for use with this module.
