CATS--Computer Assisted Teaching in Science.
Barron, Marcelline A.
This document contains the listings for 46 computer programs which are designed to teach various concepts in chemistry and physics. Significant time was spent in writing programs in which students would input chemical and physical data from their laboratory experiments. No significant time was spent writing drill and practice programs other than assistance programs in unit conversions. The programs were written in BASIC language on an Apple II+ microcomputer with a language card, but they will rerun on Apple IIe and IIc microcomputers as well. Topic areas of the programs include: clock; cloud chamber; coefficient of friction; Coulomb's law; density; E field; enthalpy; gas; half life; ideal gas law; inclined plane; molar relationships; two-dimensional collisions; metric conversion; Ohm's law; pendulums; projectile motion; refraction; relativity; vector addition; velocity; waves; and others. These programs are offered as a beginning upon which users can build and modify. Several programs call for B-files (particularly those involving graphics). Since these files are written in machine code, they are not listed in this document. Users can create their own graphics or can send blank disks to obtain copies of the B files. (JN)
