The ultimate goal of Christian education is spiritual formation, which requires transforming the minds of believers. However, since man's mind is impacted by sin, the work of the Holy Spirit is necessary to transform those minds. Since the Holy Spirit and Christian educators are striving for the same goal, one can state that the Holy Spirit has an educational ministry. Therefore, it is vital Christian educators recognize the presence of this ministry and its constituent elements. The curriculum used to train Christian educators should describe the educational ministry of the Holy Spirit. To determine if there is a deficiency in the training of Christian educators regarding the Holy Spirit's educational ministry, a method of evaluating Christian education curriculum needed to be developed. The place to begin examining this issue is with the textbooks used to instruct Christian educators. Textbooks provide a sample of the content being delivered in classrooms. A content analysis was conducted on 44 textbooks used by professors associated with the North American Professors of Christian Education (NAPCE). The books analyzed were selected by cross referencing multiple textbook surveys conducted on behalf of NAPCE and "The Christian Education Journal." The study revealed that instruction on the educational ministry of the Holy Spirit is largely absent from these textbooks. The context in which this ministry was described was exclusively in a church setting. Also, when aspects of the educational ministry of the Holy Spirit were discussed, the individual elements are inconsistently applied.
