Gerontologist, v40 spec iss 1 Oct 2000
This publication contains abstracts from the 53rd annual meeting of the Gerontological Society of America. The abstracts are arranged numerically by the session number in which they appear. Several abstracts are listed under each of the 388 sessions. Although the sessions are not limited to one topic, the dominant theme is education concerning all aspects of gerontology. Articles appear on the educational implications of older care; geriatrics training for health workers; preparing future health care workers over the Internet; evaluation of a healthy intervention for medical students and the elderly; and policy formation for healthy outcomes. Several articles discuss issues concerning quality of life for the elderly among different ethnic and racial groups; physical and psychological abuse of the elderly; linkages of family and social attitudes; and AIDS/HIV education. Following the 200-word abstracts is an index of participants with the session number listed where they appear. (JDM)
