Male College Student Perceptions of Intercultural and Study Abroad Programs
Thirolf, Kathryn Q.
Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice, v51 n3 p246-258 2014
In an attempt to understand why men participate in study abroad at much lower rates than women, this study examines how male college students at a large research university perceive a university-run global education program, especially in terms of the expected costs and benefits of participating in such programs, and the extent to which gender schemas might influence these perceptions. Ways to more effectively recruit men to participate in study abroad are also discussed.
