The Teaching of Cultural Issues in U.S. and Canadian Medical Schools.
Flores, Glenn; Gee, Denise; Kastner, Beth
Academic Medicine, v75 n5 p451-55 May 2000
A telephone survey of 126 U.S. and 16 Canadian medical schools found that fewer than 8 percent of schools had separate courses on cultural sensitivity or multicultural issues. Such issues were usually addressed in one to three lectures that were part of larger, mostly preclinical courses. Significantly more Canadian than U.S. schools provided no instruction on cultural issues. (Author/DB)
