The purpose of this study was to describe perceptions of stakeholders (leadership of Concordia Language Villages, staff members and villagers of "Lac du Bois", the French Language Village of Concordia Language Villages), related to achievement of the mission statement. The research question was: How do stakeholders in "Lac du Bois", the French Language Village of Concordia Language Villages, describe achievement of the mission statement, to prepare young people for responsible citizenship in our global community, in terms of: (a) language acquisition, (b) cultural understanding, (c) global-mindedness, (d) personal development. The Language Village experience is a hybrid program combining elements of both summer camp and study abroad experiences to create a language and culture immersion experience for American youth between the ages of seven and 18. Because outcomes of participation in this program have not been studied to date, this study conducted a program evaluation to describe outcomes of participation in the French Language Village, an exemplar of Concordia Language Villages' summer language and culture immersion programs. The approach of the study was a program evaluation based on Stufflebeam's (1966, 2003) Context, Input, Process, and Product (CIPP) Evaluation Model. The research methodology employed was a sequential exploratory mixed methods design to data collection using questionnaires, focus groups, and interviews to generate data relevant to the research question. Data obtained from 571 questionnaires completed by villagers, focus groups with 22 villagers, and interviews with 18 staff members of "Lac du Bois" and 15 past and current members of the leadership of Concordia Language Villages indicated that villagers perceived growth in all four constructs of the mission statement, particularly in language acquisition. The data from this study also showed that achievement of the mission statement was positively influenced by the length of time and number of summers that villagers spent at "Lac du Bois". Achievement of the mission statement was not influenced by the site location, age, or gender of the villagers. In addition to these findings, all stakeholders in "Lac du Bois" identified "fun" as an important outcome of participation in the program.
