This guide is designed to help workplace trainers in the textile, clothing, and footwear (TCF) industry to become more aware of the language, literacy, and numeracy demands of training. It is divided into two main sections. Section 1, "Background Information," covers understanding language, literacy, and numeracy; understanding training in the TCF industry; and identifying language, literacy, and numeracy skills. Section 2, "Strategies for Trainers," addresses preparing for training; delivering training--catering for different needs and developing language, literacy, and numeracy skills; and assessing trainees. Each of these sections is divided into parts that contain information and/or strategies for trainers to use and examples from trainers and others in the TCF industry. Appendixes include a list of 19 organizations which can provide information on workplace training; a list of suggested courses for language, literacy, and numeracy; an annotated list of 11 language, literacy, and numeracy resources; and a list of 9 bookshops.
