The main purpose of this research is to know the perception of families who have a child diagnosed with autism and identify the strategies and process use to care of these children. We selected five Puerto Rican families who were head of household and had an autism child and through their voices and experiences we were able to conduct the research. The investigator asked permission in a center where there are children with autism if an announcement can be located where it mentions the purpose of the announcement and find out how many mothers can participate in the study. For this study five mothers whose child was diagnosed with autism were selected for this study. All these mothers were from the ages of twenty one through forty five years old and were head of household and with these finding we could comply with the established purpose. Multiple case studies were this qualitative strategy used for this research. This strategy was chosen for this study because it was very important to hear from the voices of the child's mothers, the process which she had lived through before, during and after the diagnostic autism of their child. There were three interviews conducted and the investigators could corroborate the confidentiality of the data collected using a reflective sheet for this valuated information. The findings were corroborated with the information collected in the literary review. The results obtained from the validated process which these mothers have to go through when one of their children is diagnosed with autism. Also it was corroborated that the family's structure were overcome with the impact that the most affected areas are the social and the economical with the diagnosis. These families' experience allows to establish recommendations for the care of families where a member of the family is diagnose with autism. They also offer recommendation for future research. These mother said that besides having a child diagnose with autism, they all corroborated that their child is the most beautiful thing that could had happened in their lives and this is their reason for being alive and continue living. These mothers experiences permit future recommendation for the help that the families would need who have a member of the family diagnose with autism and the information that is given.
