Some Recent French Courses: Kindergarten to Grade 3.

The following courses of study in French at the primary level are described and evaluated: (1) "En Avant" (E. J. Arnold, 1966), (2) "Repondez s'il vous plait" (Copp Clark, 1975), (3) "Pour les Tous Petits" (Carleton Board of Education, 1974), (4) "Dansons la Capucine (Clarke Irwin, 1973), and (5) "Le Francais Partout: Aux Yeux des Petits" (Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1971). These courses have played a role in the tremendous expansion of French study in Ontario schools. Criteria for evaluation of such materials are briefly set forth. (JB)
