The Early Years: Integrating Design
Ashbrook, Peggy; Nellor, Sue
Science and Children, v53 n1 p24-25 Sep 2015
Engineering is such a common part of children's work in early childhood programs that teachers can simply look around the room to identify examples where students have engaged in engineering practices. This article presents a classroom activity that integrates engineering design by building on the everyday problems that young children encounter in the school day. The objective of the activity is to engage children in designing a system to move water (or marbles) from one location to another.
