Behavior-Analytic Instruction for Children with Autism: Philosophy Matters.
Kimball, Jonathan W.
Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities, v17 n2 p66-75 Sum 2002
This article describes the philosophical underpinnings of applied behavior analysis (ABA) for children with autism. It discusses the three interrelated levels of behavior analysis (technology, science, and philosophy), and the three pillars of behavioral philosophy: empiricism, pragmatism, and selectionism. The amelioration, rather than accommodation, approach of ABA is also addressed. (Contains references.) (CR)
