This annotated library guide to theater materials is divided into several separate sections. The first part, dealing with the subject as a whole, includes bibliographies; periodicals; indexes and abstracts; encyclopedias and dictionaries; yearbooks; directories; histories, biographies, and reviews; and dramatic literature. The second part lists guides dealing with specific aspects of theater, such as acting; technical theater, management, directing, costume, and set design; illustrations for theater; children's theater and puppetry; special theater areas; reader's theater, and Shakespeare and Elizabethan drama. The appendices include library leaflets on research strategies, reference services, the card catalog, bibliographies, periodicals, ERIC, and biographies, as well as separate research guides on dance and film.
