Intergenerational Projects: Idea Book.
Clay, Rebecca; Ventura-Merkel, Cathy; Eades-Goudy, Dianne; Dubich, Teresa
This book profiles 74 intergenerational programs in the United States. The programs range from basic tutoring projects to a sophisticated corporate-based day care center. Project selection was based on replicatable programs involving mutually beneficial exchanges. Grouped by subjects, profiles include programs targeting both young and old. Most profiles conclude with a list of resources available from the program's originator. A contact person for each organization is provided for individuals or groups wanting further information. A resource section at the end of the book provides more general information. Topics addressed include: (1) "Connecting the Generations"; (2) "Overcoming Isolation"; (3) "Becoming Mentors"; (4) "Educating Each Other"; (5) "Coming Together through the Arts"; (6) "Sharing Histories"; (7) "Staying Healthy"; (8) "Supporting Families"; (9) "Developing Job Skills"; and (10) "Serving the Community." (Contains a section on resources, and two indices listing age groups served and a state directory of programs.) (EH)
