Earth-Sun Relationships: Latitude, Longitude and Time.
Thomas, Paul F.
High school students learn about the sun's effects on the earth by examining the concepts of latitude and longitude, seasons, and time. Each of these topics is treated in a separate, but similarly organized, unit. Relevant vocabulary is introduced, and complex terms are clarified with diagrams and illustrations. In the unit on time, potentially confusing concepts such as standard time and the International Dateline are given extra attention. Each lesson features a set of application problems, including drawing exercises, to measure students' understanding of the material. A special section of more difficult questions is provided for use with advanced classes. Answer keys, with explanations, are included. (LP)
