Development of Marine Science and Technology in Africa. Working Group of Experts Sponsored by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco). Unesco Reports in Marine Sciences, No. 10.
United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, Paris (France). Div. of Marine Sciences.
Beginning in the late 1970's, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) increased their efforts to formulate and implement African development programs. Reported in this document is a meeting on marine resource technology which was jointly convened by Unesco and ECA. Participants concentrated on identifying factors responsible for the limited benefits that African nations are currently deriving from ocean resources, and past, present, and future efforts to develop marine science and technology in Africa. Included in these proceedings are the opening addresses, a working paper, and two questionnaires designed by participants to assess the current status of African programs related to marine resources.
