Podcasting 101 for K-12 Librarians
Eash, Esther Kreider
Computers in Libraries, v26 n4 p16-20 Apr 2006
Podcast is a digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player. In other words, it's a digital audio file that is created, shared, and heard. The podcast is a viable alternative for delivering research content or lessons to students who need remedial or extended support. While auditory learners particularly benefit when podcasts are incorporated into the teaching model, librarians can help all students and staff find ways to creatively use podcasting. In this article, the author provides ideas on how to access podcasts. She also cites the reasons why podcasts should be used in school libraries. Lastly, she provides tips on how librarians can create their own podcasts.
