Teenagers' Perceptions of Spirituality--A Research Report
Wintersgill, Barbara
International Journal of Children's Spirituality, v13 n4 p371-378 Nov 2008
This research investigates teenagers' perceptions of spirituality. The author considers how far teenage ideas mirrored the many academic theories of spirituality-in-education that have influenced policy makers. Comparisons are made particularly with the theories of four scholars who have dominated the debate over the last twenty years: Jack Priestley, David Hay, Clive Erricker and Andrew Wright. The diversity of opinion expressed by the teenagers is apparent in that, from nearly 400 questionnaires and 34 interviews, no two sets of responses were the same. Nevertheless, four themes dominated, and the diversity of student perceptions gave depth and scope to these themes. (Contains 3 tables.)
