In this article, the author discusses how science can be integrated into the "creative curriculum". Creative approaches to curriculum design, cross-curricular studies and an increased focus on the creative arts are routes to promoting and teaching creativity. But when learning in science is based on a genuine enquiry-based approach with children given the skills, resources, time and security to ask and answer their own questions and define and solve real problems, science, taught discretely or linked to other subjects, becomes more thoughtful and creative. Although pupils are not (yet) going to discover new theories they will, by carrying out their own investigations and discovering things that are new and interesting to them, construct their own developing understanding of how the world around them works. And what could be more creative than that?
