Fact Book on Higher Education
Marks, Joseph L.; Diaz, Alicia A.
Southern Regional Education Board (SREB)
The "Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Fact Book on Higher Education" is one of the nation's most comprehensive collections of comparative data on higher education. For decades, state leaders, policy-makers, researchers and journalists have used the "Fact Book" to find useful data quickly--and to learn more about long-term trends and developments in SREB states and across the nation. The "Fact Book" includes data on the population and economy, enrollment, degrees, student tuition and financial aid, faculty and administrators, revenue and expenditures. More than 90 tables provide detailed information on colleges and universities in SREB states, plus other regional and national data. In all but the specialized cases of data based on SREB's regional survey, figures for each of the 50 states are available online. Furthermore, the profiles presented here summarize the progress and national positions of the SREB region and individual SREB states. Selected data from the six statistical chapters are included. The numbers in brackets above the columns refer to tables elsewhere in the "Fact Book" that contain more complete information and full citations of sources. Two appendices are included: (1) SREB-State Data Exchange Definitions of Institutional Categories and Listing of Public Universities, Four-Year and Two-Year Colleges, and Technical Institutes or Colleges; and (2) SREB-State Data Exchange Agencies. (Contains 94 tables.)
