Papers are presented from the 1975 Society for Research into Higher Education European Symposium on Interdisciplinary (ID) Courses in European Education. Section one of the symposium on "philosophy and background" consists of an introduction by Professor Berger and discussion. Section two on "some ID courses" consists of the following papers: "The Structure of the Four-Year Degree Courses at Keele," by D. G. Holloway; "Interdisciplinarity in the Environmental Sciences," by J. G. Harvey; and "The School for Independent Study at N. E. London Polytechnic," by D. H. Robbins. Section three on "planning and administration of ID courses" includes "The Administration of Interdisciplinary Courses," by Z. C. Szkopiak and "Development of an Interdisciplinary Course at the University of Nijmegen," by J. F. M. C. Aarts and C. J. A. M. van der Linden. Section four on "research and development" includes "The SISCON Project: A Personal View of an Interdisciplinary Experiment," by David Edge; "Operational Research, Interdisciplinarity and Higher Education," by D. A. Conway; and "Methodological Issues in Evaluating Interdisciplinary Studies," by Rolf Schulmeister. Each section includes reports of a discussion group. (SW)
